Legacy of the War Economic Costs – The cost of the war was nearly $400 billion. From 1914-1917 $85,000 a minutes was spent to fund the war. In 1918 it reached $170,000 a minute. Social Costs – Millions disillusioned, entire generation of young men lost. Became known as the lost generation.
