Class Notebooks: OneNote Please go here and fill out a quick info card. https://goo.gl/forms/jIx8xun http://bit.ly/2rgHuXn Class Notebooks: OneNote Using OneNote’s Class Notebook as your Learning Management System (LMS)

OneNote Before trying to work with OneNote Class Notebooks, you should be familiar with working with the OneNote application. The majority of the work to maintain your Class Notebook is just knowing how to use OneNote and how to teach using If you need some info on OneNote, Schoology Group Access Code Open OneNote and view the Quick Notes Go to www.onenoteforteachers.com

OneNote Class Notebooks OneNote Class Notebooks are a tool for your Learning Management System Not a complete LMS as it doesn‘t not have an integrated grade book Can connect to other Learning Management Systems (Schoology) Class Notebook works more like a class binder Sections are like the dividers Pages are, well, pages… You and the students will be able add in materials you

Setting Up A Class Notebook

Designing Your Class Before creating (or attempting to create), you have a To-Do list What sections do you want the students to have in their notebooks? Example: Cornell Notes, Handouts, TRF’s, Homework, Tests/Quizzes Generate a list of student ID numbers This will make the creating process easier and quicker What content to you want to share with the students? Where is it all located? Do you need to digitalize any handouts?

Creating the Class Notebook Using Office 365, you need to access the Class Notebook option (Purple tile) www.mcs4kids.com  Staff Applications  Office 365 Going this route is temporary (We will be able to manage it within OneNote)

Creating the Class Notebook After selecting the Class Notebook, you'll land on the OneNote Class Notebook Menu Select “Create a class notebook” Side note: the other three options are editing tools for the already created notebooks

Naming the Class Notebook Be specific to the class and the period Makes it easier the navigate with OneNote

Overview of the Class Notebook Setup After naming the Class Notebook, you are directed to this landing page. Gives you a quick overview of the three sections of the Class Notebook

Adding Another Teacher The Class Notebook can have multiple teachers assigned to it Completely optional Paraprofessionals may be a teacher you add as they could then view their student’s or students' work within the notebook Weigh the benefits because you would be giving them the same permissions as you

Adding Students Again, generate the list of student ID numbers prior to adding students Students can be added after you have created the Class Notebook Enter in the student ID numbers, wait a second, select the student Separate students with a semicolon

Adding the Sections Again, this should be planned out in advance to avoid a headache You are setting the sections for all of the students’ notebooks The students will not be able to change these titles Can add and subtract sections after creation

The Preview Teacher's Notebook Preview Students’ Notebook Preview Before officially creating your Class Notebook, you get a small preview of the teacher view and student view of the notebook If satisfied, click “Create.” Otherwise use the menu or back arrow to edit. Teacher's Notebook Preview Students’ Notebook Preview

OneNote Class Notebook Add-In If you do not do the following, you will have to use the Class Notebook tile on Office 365 to make any edits to your class notebooks Back when we started on the Class Notebook Creator page (see below left), there’s a tiny option below the tiles (before) After creating your Class Notebook, you'll be taken to a landing page (see below right) Click “Download the Class Notebook Add-In” link or button

Class Notebook Add-In Menu Once you've downloaded the add-in, it should instantly appear with your ribbon options within OneNote (don't have to go through Office 365 again) Distribute Page: Gives every student a specific document in your choice of location Distribute New Section: creates new section Distribute Content Library: Gives students access to all of the content library Review Student Work: Isolates specific content for you to provide feedback Manage Notebooks: will be covered on next slide Connections: How to connect it to Schoology or LMS

Manage Notebooks Clicking the “Manage Notebooks” will open your browser This opens options for all of your Class Notebooks Edit/Add sections Lock/Unlock the Collaboration Space Give permissions to the Collaboration Space Generate Parent/Guardian links for access Link to the Class Notebook
