FSK & MFSK FSK – Frequency Shift Keying One Tone at One Frequency Either On or Off MFSK – Multiple Frequency Shift Keying One Tone at One of Multiple Frequencies Tone Sent at Only One Frequency per Transmission

Olivia 8/500 8 frequencies 500 Hz signal width 62.5 Hz / frequency 8 = 23 each transmission contains 3 bits of information Possible values: [0 0 0] [0 0 1] [0 1 0] [0 1 1] [1 0 0] [1 0 1] [1 1 0] [1 1 1] Each of the 8 frequencies is associated with one of the values - only one frequency transmits at a time - which frequency determines the value. Transmissions are analyzed in 64 length blocks – each column in the block is a ASCII character - 3 bits over 64 columns represent 3 ASCII characters. As number of frequencies increases, speed of transmission increases. As signal width increases, speed of transmission decreases
