If I have 1.43 liters of lemonade, how many gallons do I have? Drill On your giant whiteboard, separate the board into 4 different sections with a section in the middle (see picture above) Each person will solve the following problem in one of the sections: If I have 1.43 liters of lemonade, how many gallons do I have? 1 quart = 0.9463 L 4 quarts = 1 gallon 32 ounces = 1 quart

Quiz Redos Have 2 weeks when grades were inserted into BCPSOne Notice in name in BCPSOne that there was a redo date Same for students who were absent Sign up on Calendar when you are coming to redo quiz If coming during lunch when I have class, you must leave your phone/bookbag near me

Dimensional Analysis with Rates If a cheetah has been clocked at 71 miles per hour, how fast is this in centimeters per minute?

The Metric System

The Metric System The metric system is a measurement system based on our decimal (base 10) number system. Other countries and all scientists and engineers use the metric system for measurement.

Metric = Simple There are only 2 things you need to know to use the metric system: A set of prefixes Base units of measurement for distance, weight, volume, and temperature.

Distance “Meters” are the standard unit of measurement for distance. The average male in the U.S. is 1.77 Meters Tall The average female in the U.S. is 1.64 Meters Tall

Weight “Grams” are the standard unit of measurement for weight. A new-born baby usually weighs between 2,500-4000 grams.

Volume “Liters” are the standard metric unit for volume A 2-Liter soda bottle is our most common use “liters.”
