Sentence Type Goes at the end of your paper. Pick three sentences you wrote. Should be three different types. If you do not have three, you need to revise your paragraphs. Re-write these at the bottom of your paper and label them. Additionally, you’re going to “diagram” each portion of the sentence using color crayons. Make a key at the bottom. You should differentiate each part with a different color: a. The subject b. The verb c. The predicate d. The conjunction (tell me above it whether it is Coordinating (C) or Subordinating (S) and circle it) e. label each independent/dependent clause ***Note – colors should match the key, so I should know that BLUE stands for conjunction

The international flight was very long. Prefix: Inter- = between, among Sentence Example: The international flight was very long.

Use commas to set off parenthetical expressions Examples: The boys, therefore, decided to call a tow truck. The mall is so big, in fact, that there are three restaurants and a theater.

Parenthetical expressions are words, phrases, or clauses that writers use to add extra information to a sentence. Parenthetical expressions are also referred to as nonessential since they are not needed to understand the basic meaning of a sentence. Think of them as interrupters, asides, and add-ons to a sentence.

Read Act II, Scene 5 - Independently On a sheet of paper, summarize the events of Scene 5 regarding Juliet and the Nurse. Then, practice your new characterization terms by analyzing the characters of Juliet and the Nurse. Use three terms from your notes in your response when analyzing your characters. Your paragraph should, of course, be at least seven sentences in length; practice with your commas and sentence-types! Underline your three terms and be ready to discuss!

Hints 1. Is Juliet a dynamic or static character? Why? 2. Does Juliet or the Nurse have a foil? Explain. 3. What can we indirectly figure out about the Nurse or Juliet? Provide evidence. 4. What does Juliet’s soliloquy reveal about her internal reality? 5. Are there any stereotypes present? Provide evidence.
