October 1 Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing fall break! Phonics: We will learn how to form and recognize uppercase and lowercase.

*Reminders* *What We’re Learning* *What You Can Do at Home* *Please remember to check your child’s backpack and take home folder daily *Changes in transportation need to be in writing & if picking up your child early please have your picture ID with you *Please make sure birthday foods are store bought due to student allergies *If you are interested in volunteering/chaperoning please go to the HES webpage and click on the links/resources page (volunteer) and fill out the application before October The process can take up to 2 weeks so start soon  *What You Can Do at Home* *What We’re Learning* *With your child: *Go over table manners *Recite Nursery Rhymes *Talk about safety both inside and outside of school (i.e., school bus, playground, etc.) *Remind them of the school rules and school bus rules *Practice counting and writing numbers *Read 2-3 books daily *Practice writing their name *Go over uppercase and lowercase letters *English/Language Arts We will be working on letter recognition sight words, and different Nursery Rhymes/Fairy Tales to help us with retelling stories and identifying the beginning of a story. We will also be learning about syllables and beginning sounds. In writing, we will be working with predictable sentences connected to our science activities and name writing. Look out for some awesome work. *Math We will be learning how to count up to 20 by ones and recognize numbers up to 20. With that, we will also be learning how to represent numbers in different ways. *Science We will start the month off with using our 5 senses to explore and investigate the world around us followed by learning about weather. *Social Studies We will continue learning about rules, procedures, and our safety followed by learning all about maps. *Contact Information* Hardeeville Elementary School 150 Hurricane Alley Hardeeville, SC 29927 Phone: (843)-310-1888 *Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns
