The Haudenosaunee The Iroquois call themselves Haudenosaunee. They were the first people to live in New York State. Native means first. The Native Americans have what is called the three sisters. The three sisters are corn, bean, and squash. They lived in long houses. 4 or 5 family's could live in the long house.

The Longhouse

The Pesky Mosquito My story comes from a group of people called Haudenosaunee.

The Pesky Mosquito In my story, the Native Americans are having a problem. The problem is that the Native Americans are trying to destroy the two giant mosquitoes.

The Pesky Mosquito At the beginning of my story, two giant mosquitoes were resting. They were the size of a pine tree. Two canoes passed by disturbing the two mosquitoes. The mosquitoes attacked the people in canoes with there beaks, killing many of the people.

The Pesky Mosquito In the middle of the story, the Native Americans formed a war party to kill the mosquitoes. The Native Americans had bows, arrows and knives. The mosquitoes had nothing but their beaks. The war began! The mosquitoes sank the passengers in the canoe by poking holes in the canoes with their beaks.

The Pesky Mosquito At the end of story, the Native Americans hid behind the trees and bushes surrounded the two mosquitoes and killed them. Since that day and on, all mosquitoes are tiny.

Values The story teaches us to treat others the way we want to be treated. It also teaches respect.

Artifact The artifact I’m replicating is a bow and arrow. The artifact I’m replicating comes from the Native Americans. The bow and arrow was use for hunting. The bow and arrow is made from wood, string, and flexible strip material.

Bow And Arrow This artifact teaches me that the Native Americans survived by hunting animal. The Native Americans lived near the woods. Maybe it was hard hunting with the bow and arrows. The Native Americans were experts.
