TED Talk: Iambic Pentameter and Shakespeare To what does poetic meter refer? What is a foot in poetry? What is a dactyl? What kinds of lines do a dactyl create? What is a trochee? What is the most commonly used foot in Shakespeare? What is iambic pentameter? When do Shakespeare’s characters tend to use iambic pentameter? Why did Shakespeare use iambic pentameter?

Characters in Othello Based on what you can assess from these descriptions, brainstorm a list on a piece of paper of the possible conflicts that you see among these characters, as well as any overarching themes or thematic concepts that you can predict. *Be prepared to share with the group!
