Name the symbol 81 If in doubt…..? 18 21

What is at Grid reference: 208825 181833 202818 213826 198829 Give the 6-figure grid reference for: Shatton Moor Pylon Ollerton Hall Cunliffe Ho. Elmore Hill Farm 81 18 21

What is the height of the land at: 183817 192832 216841 295815 What’s the highest point on the map? Describe the steepness of the land in square: 1881 1983 How do you know this? 81 18 21

What is the name of the settlement in 2083? What shape would you describe this settlement as? Nucelated Linear Dispersed What is the name of the settlement in 1882? 81 18 21

Make four comments on the relief (height and shape of land) on the map. Now use these points to write a paragraph to describe the relief on the map (use examples from the map – heights, grid refs, directions etc.) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… 81 18 21

Land higher in the south Make four comments on the relief (height and shape of land) on the map. Land higher in the south Flatter area around Wier Mills Highest point at Shatton Edge, with surrounding land building to it quite steeply There is a valley Now use these points to write a paragraph to describe the relief on the map (use examples from the map – heights, grid refs, directions etc.) The highest point seen on the map is at Shatton Edge where it is 417m high (194807). The contour lines surrounding Shatton Edge are very close together which shows that the land is rising steeply towards Shatton Edge. The north of the area is a lower and flatter relief than in the south, e.g. the highest point in the north is about 250m. Separating the north and south is a valley running from east (1783) to west (2181). The area around Weir Mills (204834) is ore gently sloped than the surroundings. 81 18 21

Lulworth Cove In which direction was the photographer facing? What is the name of the hill that lies behind Lulworth Cove, and what is its maximum height above sea level? The houses in the photograph are on the outer edge of the village. What is its name? What is the number of the main access road to Lulworth Cove? Using the map, what facilities are available to tourists who visit?

River Tees What is the name of the village at A? What is the 6 figure grid reference of the bridge at B? In which direction is the photograph looking? What is the land being used for at C?

Cambridge In what grid square is Cambridge Science Park located? In which direction is the photograph looking? What is the road number if the dual-carriageway shown on the photograph? What roads join the dual-carriageway at the intersection shown on the photograph?

Burton Fleming What is the four figure grid reference for the village of Burton Fleming? What functions and services are available in the village? What is the name of the important houses and estate shown by the letter X? Why do you think early settlers chose this site? Describe the site of the village
