Getting Ready for College Conference Welcome to the 11th Annual Getting Ready for College Conference Good Morning and Welcome to the 11th Annual Getting Ready for College Conference. My name is (introduce yourselves) and we are members of the Ed Fund’s board of directors. The Ed Fund and our partners are committed to doubling the number of our students who earn a college degree or credential by the year 2025. We are proud to work with the Ed Fund and share the Ed Fund’s commitment to graduate every student prepared for college, career and life. Today’s conference is sponsored by the Ed Fund and our partners at the West Contra Costa Unified School District and the City of Richmond. Today’s conference will be presented by our many partners from the West County College Access Network. Presented by: West County College Access Network

WELCOME Mathew Duffy Superintendent of Schools West Contra Costa Unified School District It is our pleasure to introduce the new educational leader of the West Contra Costa Unified School District, Superintendent of Schools, Mathew Duffy to kick off our conference today. Mr. Duffy has been busy working to introduce a new culture of leadership and learning in our schools so that each student in our district is on track to pursue their college dreams. Please welcome our friend, Superintendent Duffy. Thank you Mr. Duffy!

Where are you going? Parent Presentations Student Workshops 10th & 11th in English: Multipurpose, Building 440 12th in English: Catalina Room, Auditorium 10th, 11th & 12th in Spanish: Richmond Room, Bld. 450 Student Workshops Sophomores: Cafeteria, Building 450 Seniors: Bermuda Room, Auditorium Juniors: Stay here! Destiny: Inside your folder you’ll find an agenda that will tell you are gong today. Please take that out now (show audience paper agenda). Tell each group what they will be doing today: Seniors, Finding the Best Fit Schools, College Essay Writing, a Great Alumni Panel, and Financial Aid Application Completion Juniors, You’ll start with the Alumni Panel, then Finding the Best Fit College, College Essays, and finish with A-G course planning. Sophomores, You have a great career exploration workshop from our friends at Gladeo, then the alumni panel, A-G course planning, and finish with how to be competitive in college. Parents We have two great workshops for you, providing an overview on the college process and how to pay for it. Parents: We will be presenting the Parent Workshops in both Spanish & English After our workshops we will meet back here for food and the raffle. Parents you’ll be leaving 1st. We broke you into much smaller groups this year so you’ll be able to ask the questions you want answers to. 1st – Parents of 10th & 11th graders who would like to have the presentation in English, you’ll be going to the multipurpose room across the courtyard. 2nd – 12th grade parents who would like to have the presentation in English, you will be going out the side doors to your left to the Catalina room. 3rd – Parents who would like to have their presentation in Spanish, you’ll be going to the Richmond Room, that is in building 450, at then end of the courtyard. Students 10th graders, you are going to the cafeteria in the basement of building 450, out the front doors of the auditorium and take a left 12th graders, you are going to the Bermuda room, the big lecture room at the end of the hallway to your left. 11th graders, you are going to stay here in this room for the alumni panel. Have a great day and we’ll see you back in this room for pizza and raffle!
