What is the difference between Big Ideas and Enduring Understandings? Let’s make it easier

Simple Answer Big Ideas are the magnets that hold content together. They TRANSFER while CONTENT does not. THEY NEED TO BE UNCOVERED. ENDURING UNDERSTANDINGS are what you want kids to understand ABOUT THE BIG IDEA. They contain the powerful generalization about the BIG IDEA.

How do you write a GENERALIZATION or UNDERSTANDING Characteristics Attributes Connections To the Big Idea CONCEPT OR BIG IDEA Real world Examples UNDERSTANDING Generalizations

Rules for writing Generalizations Use the CONCEPT word in your sentence. Select an ACTIVE VERB. Choose at least TWO CHARACTERISTICS from your graphic organizer. Keep your sentence UNIVERSAL. Avoid saying YOU or YOUR try using ONE or PEOPLE.
