STATE OF THE CITY MAYOR’S GOALS FOR 2017 1. Improve our parks for more activities for all age groups of residents. - Plano was awarded a $202,000 grant for improvements to Foli Park on South Hale Street. - Splash Pad at Lathrop Park located at Hale and North Streets

State of the city MAYOR’S GOALS FOR 2017 2. Continue the improvement of our Police Department by fully staffing and updating policies and equipment. - Hired new officers Johnson and Root. - Promoted Allison to Lieutenant and Hernandez to Sergeant.

State of the City MAYOR’S GOALS FOR 2017 3. Retain our current commercial and industrial businesses and attract new businesses to the city. 4. Get a user for the Monarch Foundry property. 5. Provide the resources to our city employees to deliver our city services to our residents in a safe, efficient and friendly manner. - The city of Plano moved over to a new water meter reading system and installed new meter interface units (MIUs) on every home. - The city of Plano’s financial software was upgraded to BS&A. This software product is designed specifically for municipalities.

Building, Planning, & Zoning State of the City Building, Planning, & Zoning Issued 321 permits (up 6.6% from 2016) Included were Residential: 4 new single family, 58 remodels, 4 additions Commercial: 3 new, 1 build-out, 10 remodels, 2 fire restoration Construction value for the above was 10.46 million dollars (up 25%) Issued 31 occupancy permits and performed 516 documented inspections Issued 421 property maintenance notice violations (down 36%) Issued 69 property maintenance related citations that required local adjudication appearances(down 7%)

State of the City SHOP WITH A COP The Plano Police Department was so proud of completing the second annual “Shop with a Cop.” This event provides children with the opportunity to be able to purchase Christmas presents for their families or themselves at a time when their families may not have the money to do so. This is a heartwarming experience and multiple officers have said this is a true highlight of their career.
