Dream of rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem Nehemiah 4:1-9 Dream of rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem
Dream to build people & a church for the Kingdom of God.
Nehemiah dealt with adversity! Adversity comes anytime you do anything for God. Nehemiah dealt with adversity!
Adversity 1 Peter 5:8 Isaiah 14:13 Col. 3:2 2 Cor. 4:18 Matt. 4:1-11 Luke 6:38
2 Cor. 10:4-5 The enemy comes to Nehemiah and he is in the midst of building the walls around Jerusalem. Neh. 4:1-2
Sanballat asks “What are those feeble Jews doing?” “Will they restore their wall?” “Will they offer sacrifices?” “Will they finish in a day?” “Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble-burned as they are?”
“What are those feeble Jews doing?” The real question is: “Is what you are doing worth the price that you are paying to try and get it done?”
Don’t be a afraid of failure. 2. “Will they restore their wall?” Planting a seed of fear of failure of an incomplete job or project… Should you not start the project at all? Or start and leave for someone else to finish? Don’t be a afraid of failure.
Gratefulness will change you. 3. “Will they offer sacrifices?” Will you continue your praise and worship lifestyle when things aren’t going well? Gratefulness will change you.
4. “Will they finish in a day?” Question designed to undermine their enthusiasm and provoke thoughts of impatience and a lack of commitment to the long-term project.
5. “Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble-burned as they are?” This question was designed to result in feelings of hopelessness. Neh. 4:4-5
Nehemiah’s response to the questions was a militant prayer. We need to fight and not run. 2 Cor. 10:3, 4, 5
The result of Nehemiah’s prayer. Neh. 4:6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their hearts.
The people had a mind to work. Neh. 4:7-9 Even when the enemy unified against you… Vs. 9 “We countered with prayer to our God and set a round-the-clock guard against them.”
Neh. 4:15-18 While we work for God, we can carry our tools in one hand and the weapons of our warfare in the other hand. Neh. 6:15 – the wall was completed.
