AIR Testing Information Ohio’s New Statewide Tests

Ohio’s AIR Tests AIR stands for Academic Institutes of Research The Ohio Department of Education has chosen AIR as the new vendor to replace PARCC

AIR Testing Each grade level has different requirements for testing Students will test during the year that they take each specific class. Example: English I (known as English 9) will test during their freshman year. High School students will test in the following areas English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology (Physical Science for 2018 graduates), American History, and Government.

How long will my child be testing? Each test has 2 parts English I English II Algebra I Geometry Physical Science Biology American History Government Part I-1 hr & 45 minutes Part I - 90 minutes Part 2-1 hr & 45 minutes Part 2 - 90 minutes

Time Breakdowns Each student will only take one part of a test per day The longest time a student will test is 1 hour and 45 minutes for English All other tests will be in session up to 1 hour and 30 minutes The only exception to have to take more than one part of a test per day would be if a student needs to make up a test close to the end of the testing window

Testing Windows The state has allowed 2, 15 day testing windows 15 days for Language Arts (English I and English II) April 4-April 22 15 days for Math/Science/Social Studies April 25-May 13 All tests for all students district-wide must be completed within the testing windows

How will the testing days be structured? During the Language Arts testing window AM Session from 8-10 PM Session from 12-2 During the Math/Social Studies/Science testing window AM Session 8-10 PM Session 12-2

How will the testing days be structured? Students are broken down into groups Rosters have been posted in the windows hallway close to the science classrooms and the main testing room (Study Hall). Students will be testing in Study Hall or in the Library. Students who are not testing will not be affected. They will follow their regular schedule. Upon completion of a test a student will return to their regularly scheduled day.

What can I do to help prepare my child? Students have been practicing in their classrooms already. Try to get 8 hours of sleep Eat a healthy dinner the night before and a good breakfast the day of testing.
