Newcastle university ANTI-DOPING University accreditation UKAD’s Accreditation Programme offers universities, colleges and schools the opportunity to act as a standard-bearer for clean sport by providing students with essential anti-doping education and a clean sporting environment in which to train and compete.  Schools, colleges and universities play a crucial role within the sporting landscape by promoting sport as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle and providing a platform for sporting development and achievement within the next generation of young athletes. At Newcastle we wish to work in partnership with UKAD to promote and educate on clean sport. 2017 © UK Anti-Doping 2013. All rights reserved.

ANTI-DOPING UNIVERSITY ACCREDITATION Newcastle University aims to educate all Team Newcastle athletes in clean sport and allow them to make informed decisions when training for and competing in their chosen sport. The education intends to empower the athletes with knowledge, resources and signpost to qualified support personnel to assist them in this goal of competing clean. Our clean sport policy has 3 key aims; Athlete Education  Support Staff Education  UKAD Accredited Institution Key Aims – the key for the club members is the Athlete Education If you want to speak about the other aims in brief – then you can – written below Athlete Education: All Team Newcastle athletes should be aware of the principles of 100% me, strict liability, anti-doping rule violations and the resources available to them.   Support Staff Education: All full time support staff to Team Newcastle athletes (coaches and mentors employed by Newcastle University) to provide a source of education for athletes. UKAD Accredited Institution: Working towards the status of a UKAD Accredited Institution.

ANTI-DOPING UNIVERSITY ACCREDITATION Implementation Athlete Education All Team Newcastle sports clubs will be required to assign a Clean Sport representative, ideally this will sit within the Welfare Officer role. All Team Newcastle team members are required to attend a minimum of one anti-doping workshop in the academic year. All Team Newcastle athletes will be directed to the best available online educational websites and substance checking databases. Contact Suzi Newton asap to arrange workshop suzi.newton@ncl.ac.uk Workshops The welfare officer/clean sport rep is required to attend the Clean Sport workshop at officers training, they will then liaise with Suzi Newton suzi.newton@ncl.ac.uk to organise a Clean Sport Workshop for the club. When requesting a workshop please think about venue, day, time of workshop and if there is anything in particular you want covered (e.g. supplements, medication, whereabouts, what happens in a test etc.)
