UNIT I- YOUR LIFE. YOUR DREAMS When asked, what are you going to do after high school… Do these sound familiar to you? "I don't know." "I'm not interested in anything." "I'm not good at anything." These are some of the most common responses students give when they're asked about their plans for the future. But, these statements are not true. You do have dreams for your future. You do have interests. Your do have things you're good at. Everyone does. At some point, though, people started saying that our dreams and interests are silly or unrealistic. People say we can't achieve them. So, we learn to say, "I don't know" and lower our own expectations for life. I challenge you to think back to when you were a kid… well, a younger kid… Think back to that time before people started saying "NO" and saying your dreams weren't realistic. What did you want to be? When you dreamed of your future, what did it look like? Ignore the haters. Dream BIG.

Pre-Seminar Self-Assessment

Pre-Seminar Assessment   This questionnaire is not a test. It is an opportunity for you to find out what you know and don’t know about various topics that are covered in this course. It will help you to see your strengths as a student and the areas in which you need improvement. At the end of the book, you will have an opportunity to repeat this questionnaire so you can measure your progress. Please be honest where you see yourself now. Read the statements below and give yourself points for each one. Use the point system below, and then add up your total points for each of the eight topics. Then, add up all of your points for an overall total score. Only you and Dr. Shutters will see your scores. 5 Points The statement is mostly or always true 4 Points The statement is often or frequently true 3 Points The statement is sometimes true 2 Points The statement is rarely true 1 Point The statement is never or almost never true
