Overview of services Specialist Refugee Support and Family Tracing Unit in Glasgow since 2004 10 services to 2,500 asylum seekers and refugees a year in Glasgow: See summary information sheet Top 5 countries of origin: Eritrea, Sudan, Iran, Syria & Iraq 70% asylum seekers. 30% Refugees. 72% male. 28% female 784 people aged 16-25 Youth Education Programme

Youth Education Challenging stigma around refugees and migration On-line resources: Positive Images Toolkit Syrian Refugee Choices Over Under Sideways Down Lesson plans, photo quizzes, action projects for primary and secondary Workshops for 10 to19 year olds in Glasgow and Edinburgh Resources challenge the stigma around refugees and migration. On-line Resources. - Positive Images Toolkit for young people aged 12+, Includes wealth of activities, case studies, videos, action projects. - Syrian Refugee Choices, new resource exploring the experiences of a Syrian family living on the outskirts of a refugee camp. - Over Under Sideways Down – Comic Book which tells the story of the highs and lows of a young refugees journey to the UK. - Just a selection - many other resources to pick and choose from – suitable for primary and secondary students. Currently offering direct workshops in Glasgow and Edinburgh - identified as high risk areas for stigmatising behaviour towards refugees and migrants. Don’t currently have capacity to provide offer outside of these areas. Workshops help young people to explore perceptions around migration. Explore consequences of population movement and how migrants are portrayed in the media. Enables them to emphathise with people who find themselves in this situation. Engaging interactive workshops using age appropriate resources.
