1st Amendment Freedom of Religion- Freedom of Speech Free to follow any religion or non. Separation of church & state Freedom of Speech Speak & write freely Can’t slander express opinions

Cont………….. Freedom of the Press -Prevents Gov’t from the press. -Can’t endanger lives or National security. -Can’t damage reputation. Freedom of Assembly -Meet together -Protest (peaceful)

Cont……… Freedom of Petition -Right to change laws through communication

Protection against Abuse of Power Amendments 2,3,4,5 Gun Ownership- Right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Housing of Soldiers- Owner’s consent Search & Seizures- Valid Reason Property Rights- EMINENT DOMAIN. Pay a fair price.

Protection of the Accused 5th Amendment- Can’t be forced to be a witness against himself. “I will take the 5th” ‘Double Jeopardy’ trail twice for the same crime. Trail by Jury(6th)- Right to a speedy, public and fair trail. Jury Trail(7th)- Conflicts over property or money (over $20).

Cont………… Bails, fines & punishment- Protect against unfair treatment before & after trail. Bail can not be unfairly high. It also protect against ‘Cruel & Unusual Punishment’. What is the ‘Death Penalty’?

Protection of Other Rights 9th, All citizens rights are not listed in the constitution. 10th, Powers Congress has and does not have & which powers are denied to the states. Who has the powers the Constitution does not mention? It belongs to the state gov’t/to the people.
