Joan Daughter of prosperous peasants Deeply religious Claimed to experience visions Saints commanded her to free France 1429-arrived in King Charles’ court Tried to convince him to let her lead French army

Victory Joan of Arc led France to many victories Brought war to decisive turning point

It could not last… Joan captured and turned over to English Inquisition Charged with being a witch Burned at the stake Her memory led French troops to final victory 2 years later
