How to generate a kernel memory dump with Avast
Like every other technical and software company, Avast too provides support articles and guides to solve the issues encountered while using their products. Many of the times, when your system is facing compatibility issues, Avast Technical Support suggests you to create a kernel memory dump. It is helpful as it automatically generates a file including all the memory stored in the kernel. The process to generate a memory dump is very simple, however, if you are not aware of it, then follow the steps provided in this article. It will help you if you are using windows and on the computer that is not frozen.
Follow the procedure and create kernel memory dump
First of all, Login to the windows as an Administrator
Download the file “avkb59.zip”
Click on the arrow visible next to the same file in order to open it
Now, you will have to double-click on the folder “avkb59”
Select the file “KernelCrashOnCtrlScroll.reg” and double- click on it to Run
It will ask for your permission to make changes on your computer, Click Yes
Restart the computer after you have made the changes and again Login with the administrator password
You will have to wait till the time the program automatically freezes again
Press the Ctrl + Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock in order to manually crash the window
It will result in a blue screen. The system will now generate a memory dump and automatically restart
Use the administrator password once again to login and search for the “MEMORY.DMP” file
