Pollution & Its Types Presented By: Rabab Maqsood Roll Number:

POLLUTION  Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change, in the form of killing of life, toxicity of environment, damage to ecosystem and aesthetics of our surrounding.  Types of Pollution: Water pollution Soil pollution Noise pollution Thermal pollution Light pollution Visual pollution Personal pollution Air pollution

Water pollution:  Causes of water pollution: Increased sediment from soil erosion Improper waste disposal Organic material decay in water supplies  Effects of water pollution: Decreasing the quantity of drinkable water Lowering water supplies for crop irrigation Impacting fish and wildlife populations

Soil pollution:  Sources of soil pollution: Household dumping and littering Hazardous waste and sewage spills  Effects of soil pollution: Reduced crop yield Loss of wildlife habitate Soil erosion desertification

Noise pollution:  Sources of noise pollution: Traffic Airports Railroads Concerts  Effects of noise pollution: Hearing loss Wildlife disturbance

Thermal pollution:  Source of thermal pollution: Power plants Urban sprawl Deforestation  Effects of thermal pollution: Mild climatic changes may be observed Wildlife populations may be unable to recover from swift changes

Light pollution:  Sources of light pollution: Large cities Billboards and advertising Nighttime sporting events  Effects of light pollution: Makes it impossible to see stars Also degrade the quality of life for residents

Visual pollution:  Sources of visual pollution: Construction area Billboard and advertising Power lines  Effects of visual pollution: Health and environmental effects

Personal pollution:  Sources of personal pollution: Excessive smoking, drinking or drug abuse Emotional or physical abuse Poor living conditions and habits Poor personal attitude

Air Pollution Sources Of Air Pollution Household combustion devices Motor vehicles Industrial facilities Forest fires Pollutants causing Air Pollution Include particulate matter Carbon monoxide Ozone Nitrogen dioxide Sulfur dioxide Effects include Acid rain, Respiratory Diseases etc
