Presentation transcript:

The double clutch transmission is known by many names like automated manual transmission, semi- automatic transmission, and clutch-less manual transmission.

A regular manual transmission car uses one clutch and a clutch pedal, but a double clutch transmission uses two separate clutches with no clutch pedal.

As there are no clutch pedals, the clutches are controlled by hydraulics and advanced computer electronics.

This is the same technology used in many automatic transmission cars. Let us go, through the details about a double clutch transmission.

Advantages of double clutch transmission There are several advantages of a double clutch transmission. Here are the following advantages- 1-Easy Acceleration 2-No shift shock 3-Fuel Economy 4-No clutch Pedal 5-Drive Options

Most of the people who have driven a double clutch transmission car have said that their acceleration is a breeze.

This is due to the gearshifts being able to change quickly and allowing you to accelerate in far less time than in a manual or automatic transmission car.

You can upshift in just eight milliseconds, which creates a dynamic and smooth acceleration experience.

In manual transmission vehicles, you are going to experience a jolt whenever a gear is shifted and this is called a shift shock.

However, in double clutch cars, you are not going to experience any of these shift shocks.

There is no interruption when energy flows to the transmission from the engine. Due to which the fuel economy of the car greatly improves.

With the enhanced fuel economy, your car is going to have better fuel efficiency also.

You will have a lot more room around your feet because the double clutch vehicles do not use a clutch pedal.

This gives enough room for your feet and you will feel comfortable while driving for long distance also.

Drivers can also select whether they want the central computer to control the shifting or if they want to manually control it themselves.

As there is no clutch pedal, you can manually shift by using the easily accessible buttons.

The double clutch transmission vehicles are not priced in the same way as an economy car and manufacturers have to spend a lot of money in producing them.

Due to the expense of integrating a double clutch transmission system into a car, many car manufacturers are electing not to use them.

That is why most double clutch transmission systems are found in high- performance cars and luxury cars.

If you have a turbocharged engine and a double clutch transmission in your car, then you will experience something known as turbo lag.

If the car is already stopped and you want the gears to shift so that you can move the car, then it will take a few seconds for the gears to engage.

The double clutch transmission incorporates the best features of both automatic and manual transmissions.

If you have no hesitations in selling out more money, then cars equipped with the double clutch transmission is worth considering to purchase.
