Presentation transcript:

The serpentine belt is a single, continuous belt that is used to drive many components, including the car's alternator, water pump, air pump and others.

The belt transmits power from the crankshaft or engine to all the front end accessory components in the most efficient way.

The serpentine belt works with the idler, tensioner, and pulleys inside the accessory drive belt system on a car engine. The serpentine belt works with the idler, tensioner, and pulleys inside the accessory drive belt system on a car engine.

This belt continuously runs along with the working of the engine and only comes to rest when the engine is off.

Over time the belt wears down and there are many abnormal signs and symptoms that need to be detected to sort out the problem like,

The belt generally starts to squeal or chirp when there is belt stretch, low belt tension, or the pulley and the belt are not working together.

The sound is due to the slippage or the misalignment of the working elements due to the damaged drive belt.

It is always better to physically inspect the serpentine belt at regular intervals as it may wear down prematurely.

The belts should be checked for cracks, abrasions, rib separation, uneven rib wear or chunks missing, and if found, then get the belt replaced.

As this belt is responsible for keeping the engine cool, a worn out belt will not operate the water pump and can cause the engine to overheat.

In more severe cases, the belt may completely break and cause your car to stop which can be extremely dangerous and inconvenient. In more severe cases, the belt may completely break and cause your car to stop which can be extremely dangerous and inconvenient.

The serpentine belts are standard wear items which gradually wear out after years of service.

Sometimes even the rib rubber wears down, resulting in a decreased ability to pull the accessory torque loads. Sometimes even the rib rubber wears down, resulting in a decreased ability to pull the accessory torque loads.

The belt can also become contaminated with oil or coolant, which reduce the life of the belt and also contribute to the irregular noises.

It is advised to get a damaged belt replaced because driving with a worn out belt, there is more risk of failure of component parts of the engine.

The alternator do not stop functioning and helps the battery to remain charged to supply the required power for the engine.

In order to have the power steering and the air conditioning fully functional, the serpentine belt must be maintained in a good condition. In order to have the power steering and the air conditioning fully functional, the serpentine belt must be maintained in a good condition.

Driving your car with an old and worn out belt is very risky and it is like welcoming a disaster to shadow you.
