What are the Signs Indicate that your Car Needs a Tune-up

If you find sluggish, vibration, squealing and unreliable behavior in your car, it might be indicating that it's time for a tune-up.

Now the modern cars require tune-up in every 10,000 or 20,000 miles. Some of the newer cars, it's increasingly stretched to 100,000 miles.

It doesn't mean that after a tune-up, you should ignore the routine maintenance items such as replacing the spark plugs and more.

Thus, replacing the car is expensive, so take care of your car on a regular basis is the more economical alternative.

Here are the signs indicate that your car needs a regular tune- up and maintenance for increasing its longevity.

Illuminated check engine light

The illumination of check engine light can indicate a problem or the potential problems occurs in the car system or components.

You need to pay attention to these check engine lights when they are illuminated and get them diagnosed as soon as possible.

Those illuminated lights could indicate more serious problems such as burned out taillight and the transmission failure.

By diagnosing and fixing those minor problems can help you to avoid the much bigger and costlier problems on the road.

Poor fuel economy

If you feel that your car gas tank needs frequent fillups though you are driving the same distance, then you might experience the reduction in fuel mileage.

A sudden decrease in the fuel mileage of your car can indicate that your car isn't operating as efficiently as likely it to be.

You need to find the reason, why your car is running fewer miles out of a gallon of gas. It may be due to the improper tire pressure or a sticking brake pad.

Just track the baseline of your car's fuel mileage, so that you can know the real problem before it leads to severe damages.

Noisy brakes

The brakes of your car are supposed to bring you to a stop smoothly without putting your foot through the floor for pressing the brake pedal.

If you find that your brakes are squeak unmercifully or feel a rhythmic vibration while applying the brakes, then it will indicate a serious issue.

It may happen you need to apply a lot of leg power to stop the car and doesn't stop your car until you have almost reached the floor.

Though the brake pads, brake fluids as well as the rotors are wear items and that need to be replaced and maintained periodically.

Rough Shifting

The automatic transmission cars are providing smooth, reliable and efficient shifting of your car on the road.

If you find that your car is hesitating while shifting from reverse to the driver or vice versa, then your car transmission needs attention.

In other circumstances, it will create rough or abrupt changes of gears, trouble shifting in high gears and upshifting or downshifting sporadically.

For protecting your car, you require periodic maintenance of the transmission fluid, filters, and screens because the gear depends on these components.

Sluggish acceleration

While acceleration if you are feeling loss or power or sluggish acceleration in your car, then it can create a dangerous problem.

You will feel the sluggish acceleration while merging onto a highway, passing another car on the road or towing a trailer uphill.

When you need the power to accelerate your car and suddenly found that it was reduced can cause a sticky situation on the road.

The regular maintenance of your car can help you to check out the causes at a proper time and prevent these problems from occurring.

Conclusion

Owner's manual is the best solution for preventing the common causes of car problems in the first place.

If you find above given signs in your car, then refer your manual regularly and perform the tune-up on proper time.
