Presentation transcript:

If you carry out regular maintenance and servicing of your car, then, in the long run, your car will not trouble you with any serious issues.

But, people always tend to be complacent when it comes to taking their car for a servicing or maintenance session.

If you are not good at following a maintenance schedule for your car, then your car will exhibit certain symptoms that will indicate issues with one or more parts of the car.

One such problem that is constantly reported by car drivers is cupping of tires. Generally, people are not familiar with this issue, which makes it more troublesome to deal with it.

Let us discuss more about cupping of tires.

What is cupping?

The tires of your car are the only part of your vehicle, which is coming in direct contact with the road.

This makes it very important to maintain the quality of the tire as it determines the safety of your drive, comfort, and handling of the car.

Tire cupping also sometimes referred to as tire scalloping is a destructive form of tire wear. They can be easily identified due to the appearance of high and low spots.

While in other forms of tire wear, you will be able to identify a consistent wear pattern, but in cupping the tires appear high and low in places.

These high and low places are areas where the rate of wear is faster in comparison to other places in the tire.

Reasons for cupping 1-Malfunctioning suspension system 2-Bad quality tires 3-Underinflated tires 4-Misalignment of wheels

Malfunctioning suspension system

The suspension system of your car is responsible for providing you with a comfortable ride.

The struts and shock absorbers of your suspension system absorb the impact of the road and your car is saved from all the force of the road.

However, in the circumstances where the components of your car's suspension system break, then the tires will have to face the brunt of the impact.

This results in the tire bouncing up and down with force, which results in cupping.

Bad quality tires

Most of the time cupping is also related to low-quality tires. This is because they do not have the thickness, strength, or durability of standard-issue tires.

This is the reason they are vulnerable to permanent damage like cupping.

Underinflated tires

Lack of adequate pressure in tires also play a role in the formation of cupping. As the tires do not have the required amount of pressure in them they are susceptible to damage.

An underinflated tire is prone to suffering damages from potholes, rocks, and other debris or abnormal objects on the road, which can cause cupping.

Misalignment of wheels

When you are talking about car maintenance, then the wheel alignment is one of the most important factors.

Most of the time issues in cars are often related to a misaligned wheel. The wheel alignment ensures that all the wheels of your car are at a perfect angle so that your car drives the way it was designed to do.

If your car's wheel alignment is out of place, then it is obvious that the tires are going to suffer severe wear & tear, which will lead to cupping.

Conclusion

From our above discussion, we can easily ascertain that cupping is a type of problem, which can be easily avoided.

This can be possible with proactive maintenance. If you routinely follow the maintenance and servicing schedule set forth for your car, the issue like cupping can be prevented.
