Warehousing Management
Presentation transcript:

The evolution of a cold storage warehouse started only when it was figured out that some food and materials can be preserved inside a freezer.

That is the reason for the construction of big warehouses having good amenities for cold storage goods and products.

As cold storage is the requirement of diverse industries, it is quite essential to design an absolutely efficient and cost-effective cold storage warehouse.

Here are some efficient ways to manage a cold storage warehouse with minimum operational cost and maximum profit.

Generally, the cold storage warehouses maintain different temperatures as per the requirement of the products.

This is because not all the products need the same amount of freezing in order to stay fresh and if an item requiring mild coldness is kept in a deep freezer, then it could get spoiled.

So, proper distribution of space is important in order to maintain multiple temperature zones within the warehouse.

The drive-in or drive-through pallet racking system is the best choice for cold storage as it provides the maximum use of the available space in the warehouse.

It implements the concept of FIFO that is “first in, first out” and can be fairly used for tracking product movement throughout the warehouse.

And this limits the condition of an item to get spoiled for being stored for a very long period from its day of arrival.

Rough handling will result in rips and tears in the packages and expose them to the non- sterile atmosphere that encourages damage.

Ensure none of your shipments land with tears or harm to the packaging and they were kept at a predictable temperature amid the whole delivering process.

Even the scarcest change in temperature can extraordinarily expand an item's odds of deterioration and should be expelled from coming into contact with alternate items.

When the products are set up for being stored in the warehouse, they must be properly checked in terms of their temperature and quality before preserving them in the cold storage.

It is very much significant to detect the bad products as they will not only get worse in due time but also affect the health of the other products in the cold storage.

Therefore, it is better to weed out the bad quality products before they occupy space in the warehouse.

Temperature and humidity are the prime factors which determine the freshness and quality of the frozen product.

Always keep a track of the temperature in the cold storage and use of alarms can alert immediately to any change in temperature or humidity across a specific zone.

So, significant attention must be given towards the maintenance of the cold storage warehouses.

The cold storage warehouses are a critical part of the food supply and logistics and hence, requires special care to ensure a safe and durable freezing system.

And at the same time, there must be energy conservation, effective space utilization, safety and comfort of the people working in the warehouse.
