Reasons Behind Clear Fluid Leaking From Your Car

Like every other machine, your car also requires regular servicing and maintenance to run smoothly and perform at its optimal level.

All the parts of a car are intricately related to each other, if there is something wrong with one of the parts, then it is just a matter of time before other parts related to it also malfunction.

However, people tend to be complacent when it comes to maintaining their car. This results in the malfunctioning of some components.

Most of the time when there is something wrong with the car, then you can notice various symptoms, which warn you of the impending problem.

Similarly, if you ever notice clear fluid leaking from your car, then it is an indication that there is something wrong with one or more parts.

Working Mechanism

For your car to run efficiently and smoothly, it requires many different fluids. Most of the fluids that are required by the car are filled and refilled through reservoirs in the engine bay.

Whenever you come across liquid pooling beneath the engine as it is a commonplace to locate any leaks in your car.

If your car is leaking a clear fluid, then it could be due to a number of reasons based on the location of the leak.

Moreover, water leaks tend to occur on the front of the vehicle, if condensation forms in the car's air conditioning system.

Similarly, brake fluid leaks are noticeable around the middle or back of the car and are seen directly under the path of the car's brake lines and around the wheels.

Reason behind the leak

Work from A/C

Whenever you witness clear fluid leaking from the front of the car, then it is water. This occurs because of the running of A/C where condensation forms on the component in the A/C called the evaporator.

Consequently, water droplets fall beneath the engine bay area. You need to inspect the leak to be sure that it is water which is leaking from your car.

Failing brake lines

If you come across clear fluid leaking from the middle of the car, then this is due to the failing brake lines.

The new brake fluid appears clear in color and with progressive use it changes color to yellow and in its last phase becomes brown in color.

With their consistent use brake lines become older and begin to rust, ultimately they fall off, which causes the brake fluid to leak beneath the car.

However, if you come across brake fluid leaking from the wheel area, then this is caused due to the worn wheel cylinder seals.

Leakage in the gas tank

If you notice clear fluid leaking from the back of the car, then it is gasoline.

Out of all the substance that might leak from the car, gasoline is the easiest substance to identify because of its unique smell and appearance like a rainbow when seen on the ground in the light.

The gasoline also leaks due to the same reason as the brake fluid due to the filler neck and the tank rusting out.

Conclusion

From our above discussion, you can know the reasons behind clear fluid leaking from your car. From this, you can conclude that preventive maintenance is the best way to avoid such type of situations.

However, if the problem occurs after you are sticking to your maintenance schedule, then you can always seek the assistance of a technician to fix the issue.
