 The owner may decide to change the type of surfacing with a different outlook and features. For this purpose after the acrylic coating, another surface is layered over the original one. You may also choose a sand fill turf or interlocking modular tiles for resurfacing. Sand-filled turf is a densely woven carpet and is filled with silica sand. It is easier and quicker to install and require low maintenance.  Inter looking modular tiles are tiles with grid designs and usually allows rainwater to pass through them. These surfaces are softer than the original hard asphalt surface but are easier to maintain and in most cases do not require intense and frequent resurfacing or repairing.  Whatever surfacing option the owner chooses they will work well in the presence of a smooth and well balanced original surface. In case of choosing either option, the owner is bound to repair the base first or the new upper surface will lose its vitality and utilization. No surface can work on a base with cracks or slops for it will retain water and will damage the upper layer as well. Therefore resurfacing should be installed only after complete assessment and repairing of the original surface. Resurfacing the Tennis Court

 After the identification of the cause, there comes the stage of repairing. There are many repair options, and the most common one involves using some asphalt filler for the simple cracks. Simple and less deep cracks are usually the result of the natural shrinking of asphalt and are easier to be treated. Sometimes it only requires few hours to get the cracks repaired but sometimes the court surface may require a more intense treatment or even reconstruction.  Before starting the filling, the court is thoroughly cleaned to remove any broken pieces and dirt. Then the cracks are filled with the most suitable fillers, which may include acrylic fillers or even steel trowels depending on the need and budget of the owner. After the cracks are fillers they are sanded down to get the leveled according to its surrounding. Finally, the cracks are all filled and are unnoticeable. Learn to Deal with Cracks in the Tennis Court

Clay Tennis Courts –Herringbone pattern shoes are recommended on clay courts. They are the lighter ones with an added ability to grasp on the dry floors and easy to move on the moist floors. To avoid blisters and foot jamming it`s better to stick felt inside of shoes. Grass Tennis Courts –There are special shoes designed for playing on the grass court, which have the rubber nubs on the plantar and distal outsole. These are ideal for playing on the grassy surfaces and provides good grip on the soil. Players can also use shoes with deep herringbone pattern if they can’t access the former one. It is always recommended to do some startup practice before playing if they are new on grass surface tennis court. Carpet Tennis Courts –For tennis courts with carpeted surface hybrid shoes are recommended as they can go well with extra soft and over dry surfaces. The Change of Footwear with the Change in Tennis Court Surfaces

 The cost of resurfacing is based on the condition of the court. Often acrylic or hard surfaced tennis courts are needed to be resurfaced after every 4 to 8 years but it depends on the care and frequency of practicing on the court too. Average cost is usually between $4000 and $8000, which may increase or decrease depending on the issues present at the site.  If the tennis courts are not well maintained and not regularly cleaned, the cost of the resurfacing will rise. For instance, if there is fungus or mold on the surface or the surface has hardcore stained, there will likely be an increased usage of resources like labor and chemicals, which will lead to an increase in the cost.  The overall cost of tennis court resurfacing also depends on the number of cracks and the type of fillers in these cracks. For instance, if you choose a cheap filling material like acrylic filler, your cost will come down and so is your durability and lifespan of the court. On the other hand, if you choose high-end fillers like the fiberglass reinforcement, or asphalt and concrete patching or go for special membrane system it will boost the quality of your court and increase its lifespan but it will result in an increased cost too.  If there are low spots or bird baths on your court they will require more filling material and more professional experts to repair and hence there will arise in the cost.  Ideal Time for Resurfacing  Every court surface is bound to be resurfaced after a certain period of time, be it hard court or artificial clay or grass. You know it is time to get resurfacing done when you start witnessing dents and cracks on your hard court. Before this intense damage, you are likely to face chipping and notice color fade on your ground. You can delay the need to have to court resurfaced if you pay more attention to maintenance when you notice those signs of wear.  Consider the Cost  When opting for resurfacing, be sure to consider your budget first. Depending on the type of surface you have and how damaged it is, you may have to spend anything more than $4,000 on resurfacing. In some cases, the cost may go up to $8,000 too. The best thing is to work with a tennis court contractor and ask them to inspect it for you. Ask for estimation and a quote to have your court resurfaced. You can do the same with other contractors and compare their quotes to select the best deal.  Purpose of Resurfacing  If you want your tennis court to stay in good condition and properly functioned for a longer period of time then you must resurface it as soon as you witness problematic surface without delaying it unnecessarily. Getting resurfacing done on the right time can save you from the hassle of reconstruction all over again. Key Factors Affecting Tennis Court Resurfacing
