Introduction to Air Conditioning and Climate Control
Presentation transcript:

In the older cars, there are air vents built into the front dashboard which blow cool or heated air from them and control the temperature inside the cabin.

But, it takes too long for the cooling to occur and the passengers in the rear seats do not feel as comfortable as the driver in the front.

For this reason, the car manufacturers added climate-controlled seats in the cars for making it more comfortable for the passengers.

What is it?

Basically, the climate- controlled car seats allow cool or heated air to blow out of them through its outer material.

And the person sitting in the seat will have conditioned air blowing directly and quickly onto their body.

These car seats are mostly found in luxury cars as the new technology gives you the ability to set the temperature of the car seat.

Key features of the climate- controlled car seats

Here are some of the key features of the climate- controlled car seats:

Perforated Car Seat

Traditionally, car seat upholstery includes leather, polyester, nylon, and vinyl material which may feel soft, but they don’t allow air to pass through it.

Therefore, climate- controlled car seats use perforated materials for the car seat cover and there are also special cushions inside the seats to enhance the comfort.

The perforation of the outer material allows air from the inside of the seat to pass through its many tiny holes and any kind of suffocation to the occupant.

Internal Seat Fans

The interior of climate- controlled car seats has fans in them which are responsible for circulating air out of the car seats from the air conditioning or heating system.

When you set the temperature of your car seat to be cooler, the fans will blow harder so that more cool air goes through the perforations of the seat.

There are some cars which only blow normal air from the seats and are typically less expensive than the models which blow actual cool air out.

In the end

Climate-controlled car seats are available for both the front and back of the car and some even having their own air conditioning and heating system built into it.

So, the introduction of climate-controlled car seats aim to provide an optimal level of comfort to the driver and all the passengers of a car.
