Presentation transcript:

The idle air control valve of your car generally used to regulate the amount of air flow to the engine at the idle state of the car engine.

For the fuel economy and safety of the different parts of your car right idling speed of the engine is very essential.

As it is controlled by the engine control module and check the engine idle speed to control the amount of air bypass the throttle intake plate.

In two idle setting, the minimum idle setting allow the certain amount of air to pass through the valve irrespective of the IAV valve position.

But the running idle setting is used to achieve by the combination of the IAC valve position and the airflow.

Throttle following

The main significance of the IAC valve is the throttle following which is basically used when you floor the car and close the throttle valve suddenly.

In such situations, the IAC valve of your car is open up temporarily and allow some air to pass in it.

As a result, the compensate of the valve drop suddenly in the air and allows the engine to decelerate gradually.

High Altitudes

At the idle state of your car, the engine RPM should be minimized and consider this scenario at a higher altitude.

The density of the air is placed at less, and normal idling setting. Then, the engine will die down and face restarting issues due to less air flow to the engine.

In these conditions, the ECM adjusts the IAC value of your car in which the air flows through it and the engine idles smoothly.

If you find that the sensor in the IAC valve is used to detects a drop in the idling engine RPM, then it opens up and allows the air to pass.

As a result, when it will pass into the engine, then it will eventually increase the RPM of the car engine.

So, it's your responsibility is to prevent the engine from stalling and try to keep the engine warm and running.

Conclusion

If you find any types of defects in the IAC valve of your car then it can lead to engine running problems. So, keep the IAC valve in good condition.

If the idle speed of your car is too low, then the engine will stall or idling will be rough or in case of high idle, the engine is overheated.
