Why the Brake Caliper of your Car Sticking?

Find out the reason behind the sticking of the brake caliper is very important and need to fixed right away because it affects the safety of the car.

When the brake caliper is sticking your car pulls to one side when you apply the brake or don't release all the way after you step out of the pedal.

Before take your stucked brake caliper to a repair shop, learn the causes behind it and the way to fix them.

The below points define the most common causes of stuck brake caliper in your car.

The brake caliper of your car has a piston that contains a rubber boot around it to protects, seals and lubricates the piston.

While replacing the brake pads, these boots can be easily torn when the piston back into the caliper.

When it gets torn, the rust and other debris build up inside the caliper and cause the piston to not slide smoothly and stick the brake caliper.

The caliper has the grooves that can hold the brake pads and let the slides to push on the brake pedal and out when you let off.

The brake pad shims get stuck in the groove due to the corroded or the debris built up in them and unable to slide them correctly.

In this case, you need to clean the brake pad shims or replace the shims which are causing the sticking issues.

When the brake hoses wear out eventually, the small piece of brake hoses still attached to the main part of the hose.

When you put your step on the gas pedal, the fluid will flow to the brake piston and makes the brake pads to engage and slow the car.

But when you leave the brake, the fluid unable to return to the master cylinder and cause the caliper to stick and pull the car to one side.

The brake caliper has slides that need to stay lubed because it contains the protective rubber boots to keep them lubricated.

If you leave them to dry out and rust, then the debris ultimately cover them and make them unable to slide like they should be.

In an extreme condition, it will stick the brakes. So, you need to take out bolts and recondition them by putting new bolts.
