MAT 117 Functions & Equations 1.3

To solve an equation: Locate the variable that you want to isolate. Use inverse operations (opposite operation) to get variable by itself. Remember that what you do to one side of an equation you must also do to the other to balance the equation. Inverse operation….adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing (just not by zero) Always check your answer by plugging it back into your equation to be sure it works.
