The muffler of your car are used to lower the volume of noise generated from the exhaust system and flow away from them from exhaust pipes.

As it is also used to flow away from the exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine of your car. So the passengers not aware of the noises.

The muffler of your car stay strong for up to 7 years, but several driving conditions like potholes, hitting bumps, ice and salt could wear out the muffler.

As a result, the holes forming in the muffler. When the holes form in the muffler, the following warning signs you will notice in your car.

The small holes in the muffler are also known as weep holes and used to drain out the water of the muffler to prevent the causes of rust.

If you notice the rust holes forming very close to the exhaust pipes, then it will form rust holes which are very stressful.

The muffler of your car prevents the carbon monoxide to enter the interior cabin where all parts of the car are located.

If the muffler has a hole in it, then the carbon monoxide enter the engine. As a result, you will feel tiredness, dizziness, headaches, and trouble breathing.

When the muffler of your car has a hole, it will generally cause loud noises which are irritating and frustrating.

So, replace the muffler on time. Otherwise, the hole will expand and get bigger in the muffler to cause louder rumbling noise at the same time.

For proper functioning of the exhaust system of your car totally depends on the smooth running of the engine.

If one component of the exhaust system are damaged, then it cause engine misfire. Among the different parts, the muffler is responsible for engine misfiring.

Few states have the law to check the emission of your car, so, the carbon emission can be checked by an emission test.

If the muffler of your car has a hole, then it will end of failing in the emission test and need to pay penalty for it.

Apart from the above points, there are several signs also indicating the hole in a muffler and help you to recognize them.

If you find the hole in the muffler of your car, then take it to your mechanic as soon as possible for a replacement.
