Innovative Construction Materials PM: Yusuf Mehta Laboratory and Full-Scale Evaluation of Fiber-Reinforced Asphalt Mixtures (3 CEE) Develop asphalt binders for constructing flexible pavements that are capable of withstanding the harsh cold arctic and subarctic environments (Seeking 3 CEE) Objective Develop a Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) design method for fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures. Fiber-reinforced asphalt mixes will be designed using up to five different types of fiber reinforcements. Laboratory and field testing will be performed to evaluate the short-term and long-term performance of fiber-reinforced asphalt mixes. Clinics’ objectives Prepare fiber-reinforced asphalt mixes. Evaluate the laboratory performance of fiber-reinforced asphalt mixes. Prepare binder samples (blend binders and additives); Conduct binder tests, including binder aging, dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR), Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS), Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR),and morphological test; Analyze the testing data, write a research report, and make a presentation.
