What is Science
Science is the process of trying to understand the world. The goal of science is to understand the world around us. Scientists use facts to solve larger mysteries of nature.
Using the facts that they have gathered, scientists propose explanations for the events they observe. Then they perform experiments to test their explanations. After studying facts, making observations , and performing experiments, scientists may develop a theory.
Scientific Theory A scientific theory is a powerful, time tested concept that makes useful and dependable predictions about the natural world. It must be tested again and again. If it survives the test, the scientific community may accept the theory. If it survives many tests, it becomes a law.
Law A scientific law summarizes observed experimental facts – it does not explain the facts. Laws like theories may change as new information is provided or new experiments are performed.
The 3 Branches of Science Life Earth Physical
Life Science Life science deals with living things, their parts, and actions. Examples: Zoology (the study of animals) Botany (the study of plants)
Earth Science Earth Science if the study of the Earth and its rocks, oceans, volcanoes, earthquakes, atmosphere, and other features. It also includes astronomy. Astronomers study such objects as stars, planets, and moons.
Physical Science Physical science is the study of matter and energy. It is divided into two sections physics and chemistry Physics is the study of energy, such as heat and light. Chemistry is the study of what substances are made of and how they combine.
