The World Wide Web  The World Wide Web ( WWW ), or web, consists of a worldwide collection of electronic documents ( webpages )  A website is a collection of related webpages and associated items  A web server is a computer that delivers requested webpages to your computer  Web 2.0 refers to websites that provide a means for users to share personal information, allow users to modify website content, and provide applications through a browser Introduction to Internet (Handout) 11

Activities: NO. 1. Mobile Browser Comparison Although most mobile devices include a mobile browser, users have the option of downloading and installing other browsers. Evaluate and compare reviews of at least four mobile browsers, such as Opera, Android, Firefox, or Safari. Discuss the major differences among the browsers you researched, including number and types of features, for which devices they great available, how they display webpages, security features, and the speed at which they perform. Discuss any experiences you have had with various browsers. Include in your discussion which mobile browser you would recommend and why. Introduction to Internet (Handout) 20

Activities: NO.3. Acceptable Use Policy Most businesses provide Wi-Fi and Internet access to employees while they are at work. While the intention is for the Internet to be used for work-related purposes, employees often find it easy to become distracted with other activities on the Internet, such as social media, checking personal , or visiting websites for entertainment. These activities can degrade Internet access for others or lead to poor performance, as well as expose the company to malware or other risks. Many businesses create an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) that outlines how employees should use the Internet. It also may outline consequences for unauthorized Internet use. Locate two AUPs that are published online. Compare the two policies and then create a policy you believe would be fair to employees of a small business. Include guidelines for Internet use during breaks, use of smartphones, and restrictions for using social media. Compile your findings and then share them with the class. PROBLEM SOLVING:  NO. 1. Message Formattin g A friend sent an message containing a photo to your account at work. Upon receiving the message, the photo does not appear. You also notice that messages never show any formatting, such as different fonts, font sizes, and font colors. What might be causing this?  NO.2. New Browser Windows While browsing the web, each time you tap or click a link, the link’s destination opens in a new browser window.
