PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (I) Vision: Develop a 3D virtual model of an industrial manufacturing plant that can be used for; Planning and optimization of the plant Monitoring production, maintenance and performance Data collection for analytical decision making Simulation for different production levels Gradually create more advanced models of the plant to prepare the factory for digital twin technology. Motivation: Modeling the physical object and monitoring in real time (data from and about the thing) are two of the four core components of digital twins. Gartner predicts that by 2021, half of large industrial companies will use digital twins, resulting in those organizations gaining a 10% improvement in effectiveness. Sensor (IoT) placement optimization will become more and more critical problem with a direct economical consequence for both investment and maintenance perspective. Data analysis gathered from sensor controlled area will be used to dynamically update production planning datbase and this will result in efficiency increase in production line. PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (II) Expected outcome: A real time monitoring interface for the industrial plant Indoor positioning of the critical assets Data analysis of collected data Increased production thanks to identifying bottlenecks in production chain Increased availability of machinery thanks to automated maintenance tracking Impacts: Increased productivity Market resilience thanks to ability to predict demand and re-arrange production level High adoption rate thanks to simplicity and incrementally of deployment/usage Adaptability thanks to easier change management Easier supply chain management thanks to actively monitoring production level Schedule: Expected start – end date: October,2019- September-2022
