Benefits of Using a Power Analyzer: Easily Identify Power Quality Issues Generate Detailed Reports Outlining Power Problems Utilize Smart Power Experience to Solve Complex Power Quality Problems Eliminate Unnecessary Service Calls and Returned Equipment 04/113

Severity Range of Power Problems Report TRANSIENTS HIGH /LOW FREQ. VOLTAGE SAGS VOLTAGE SWELLS POWER OUTAGES 04/114

Transients and Spikes - A momentary sharp increase or decrease in voltage. High voltage Transients( above 200V) are normally caused by lighting and low voltage transients( below 200V) are mostly caused motor-driven equipment such as your refrigerator, air-conditioner, Elevator. 04/115

Noise - Random Transients - electrical impulses that are carried along with standard AC current. Turning on the florescent lights overhead, your refrigerator, laser printers or working during a lightning storm can all introduce line noise into your systems. 04/116

Swells - Increase in Power line Voltage more than 110% of Nominal. Swells could be caused by external factors from power grid or by internal factors like switching off big loads from the circuit, loss or poor Neutral wire connections 04/117

Sags - Brief reductions in voltage, typically lasting from a cycle to few seconds. It could be caused by starting big loads and motor driven equipment or poor wiring condition. 04/118

Neutral-Ground Swell: Measurable AC voltage between neutral and Ground. It could be the result of Multiple loads connecting to the same circuit or inrush currents passing through the Neutral wire, like when Equipment starts up or Warms up. N-G Swells are typically caused by poor Neutral wire connections or connecting multiple loads to a branch circuit close to the capacity of the circuit. 04/119

Outage – Power outage or loss of the electricity supply. 04/1110

POWER PROBLEMS CAUSES OF POWER PROBLEMS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SMART POWER SOLUTIONS Power Analysis Narrative Report 04/1111
