Welcome to VRHS The high school grading term is a semester. Students take a minimum of seven classes. Students earn ½ a unit per semester if the class is passed with a 70 or higher If a student fails a course, the student must repeat the course until it is passed. A total of 5 units must be earned to become a 10th grader Units are posted to your transcript. Your transcript is an official record showing all courses taken 9-12.

Promotion Criteria How many units do you need for promotion to each grade level? From 9th to 10th 5 units From 10th to 11th 11 units From 11th to 12 17 units To graduate 23 units (in all the right places)
Graduation checklist Complete your graduation checklist at the end of each semester. 1st semester ends in December 2nd semester ends in May Place your EOCT scores on your checklist Place your writing test scores on your checklist
Foreign Language Foreign language is no longer a requirement for graduation; HOWEVER, all 4 year University System of Georgia schools require at least 2 consecutive units of the same modern language.
Diploma types and seals Georgia now has one diploma type only—no college prep or tech prep Students can earn seals through CTAE course completion, modern language, fine arts
End-of-course-test (eoct) Your EOCT will count as 20% of your second semester grade in: 9th grade Lit./Comp Physical Science Coordinate Algebra
Hope Scholarship (3.0 GPA) and Rigor Requirements You must have 4 units in courses that are considered rigorous in order to be considered for the Hope Scholarship Advance math, such as Advanced Algebra or Trigonometry Advance science such as Chemistry, Physics or Biology III Advanced placement courses (AP)/Advanced Foreign Language College courses taken at a unit of the University System of Georgia (in core subjects.)
College and Career Academy Programs of Study (CCA) Students planning to attend CCA must be classified as sophomores (five units of credits). Additionally, these five units must include the successful completion of one unit of math and on unit of English.
