Context Systems Committee Smart Cities “standards in the field of electrotechnology to help with the integration, interoperability and effectiveness of city systems.” ITU Focus Group 2013-2015 Sustainable Cities and Communities “achievement of sustainable development considering smartness and resilience” So many SDOs ….. TC268 looks (mostly) at “management”: process & indicator standards. Although SC1 Infrastructure sometimes overlaps to WG11. OGC & ISO TC211 have established liaisons with various JTC1 groups, including WG11. TC268: 2013 (?) WG11: since May/June 2016: sixth meeting next week IEC SyC new in 2018, only met once so far – it took a long time to get started! – initially not supposed to create standards of its own. History ISO & IEC Joint Technical Committee “1”: Information technology started 1987 OGC involved in various groups: big data, imagery, sensors,… & smart cities OGC listed as a “Category C liaison”, participate in working groups OGC listed as liaison with four subgroups: WG 9 Big Data SC 24 Computer graphics & image processing SC 29/WG 1 Coding of still pictures SC 31 Automatic identification and data capture Was in liaison with WGs on Sensors and Internet of Things OGC liaison with WG11 still hasn’t got through the system (as at 6th April 2018) TC211 also has liaison status with JTC1, active in: WG9 Big Data; WG11 Smart Cities; SC 41 Internet of Things – including Chris Body SC 24 Computer graphics; SC29/WG1 Coding of still pictures I don’t think there is a JTC2 Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium; Ordnance Survey. History JTC1 2013-2015 Study Group – OGC input (“GIS”) valued George Percivall 2016 WG11 established 1st meeting: Singapore, May/June 2016: Carsten Rönsdorf 2nd: Cagliari (Italy), September 2016: Peter Parslow 3rd: Chengdu (China), February 2017: Chris Body 4th: Southampton (UK), June 2017: Peter Parslow & Chris Body 5th: St Petersburg (Russia), October 2017: Peter Parslow 6th: Toronto (Canada), May 2018: Peter Parslow & Chris Body I don’t think there is a JTC2 Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium; Ordnance Survey. WG11 scope & work programme Scope: “foundational standards for the use of ICT in Smart Cities” Published ISO/IEC 30182 Smart city concept model — Guidance for establishing a model for data interoperability In progress: due to be lodged with JTC1 by end May 2018 ISO/IEC 30145 Smart City ICT Reference Framework Part 1: Smart City Business Process Framework Part 2: Smart City Knowledge Management Framework Part 3: Smart City Engineering Framework ISO/IEC 30146 Smart City ICT Indicators ISO/IEC 21972 Information technology - An upper level ontology for smart city indicators Also: a “white paper” for JTC1 (September 2018, for November meeting) identify/update the scope and main business in smart city related standard activities within JTC1 and beyond suggestions on the structure and collaborations to increase the visibility of JTC1 within ISO/IEC/ITU-T To be fair, ISO/IEC 30182 was approved by JTC1 then given to WG11 just to resolve any comments on the DIS! 30146 is “subsidiary” to TC268’s ISO 37120:2014 Indicators for city services and quality of life 29172 is a way of implementing 37120 (& 30146) 30145 & 30146 are in danger of cancellation if we don’t manage a “CD” (i.e. acceptable to JTC1) by August 2018; 21972 started later. White paper came out of debate at JTC1 about how best to manage their input to ‘smart cities’, across their existing groups on IoT, Big Data, …. WG11 engagement with OGC “SCIRA” How should WG11 engage with OGC’s Smart City Interoperable Reference Architecture innovation project? Not at all? Define our connection points, e.g. provide WG11 30145 draft to SCIRA (by ???) for them to test, and require OGC SCIRA report by ??? WG11 experts happy to take on some particular SCIRA task? WG11 experts to attend SCIRA workshops? Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium; Ordnance Survey. Released under Open Government Licence
