Purposing to scale up FMNR in Uganda By Prudence Aijuka, FMNR Network 27th April 2018 @ UNFFE Hall

Background FMNR network was formed in 2015, having come together in a National meeting sharing on the key lessons learnt from implementing FMNR project by World Vision. After this, an interim steering committee was established to enable put up some systems in place for the FMNR network. At the AGM an interim committee handed over and a Steering committee of FMNR network was established and has been working and reporting to the AGM annually. The last AGM took place in September 2017 and the executive committee came into force .

Vision : Sustainable natural resource management for improved livelihoods Mission: To establish strong partnerships for up scaling farmer managed natural regeneration practice

Objectives of the network To build Alliances and Synergies for FMNR scale up in Uganda To enhance Knowledge and Skills of network members on FMNR model. To Lobby and Advocate for the adoption and functionalization of FMNR by the relevant Government of Uganda Ministries and Departments. To build a sustainable source of funding for FMNR Network operations, To establish an effective administrative management framework for sustainable FMNR Network operations.

Introduction Network currently is hosted at World Vision Uganda With currently 19 member organizations The network is under the leadership of the National Executive Committee of FMNR, who meet regularly to support the work of the secretariat of one Staff. The Network Executive committee is currently ICRAF (research), WV (Coordination), VI Agro forestry(Extension), Tree talk(Publicity), Hunger Project (Implementing) and UNFFE (Advocacy and implementation)

Membership We seek to recruit more members with a vision and purpose of scaling the FMNR to other members. Subscription annually. To a greater extent our services to members are demand driven as per our members

Achievements of the network Information sharing: Newsletters, reports, Fact sheets Annual General Meetings and information sharing forums with Stakeholders. Buy in and Institutionalization of FMNR activities in the organisations.
