Theatre Arts I

Introduction to Theatre Theatre Arts I is a lively, interactive, participation-based introduction to acting and the world of theatre. Students will learn and practice basic acting skills in a fun, interactive, lively, and creative atmosphere. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to participate, try your best, and have fun! Activities Games Performances

Topics Covered: Physical and facial expression Vocal Expression Theatre Etiquette The Creative Process Introduction to Theatre History and Theatrical Design * Theatre Arts I must be taken for a full year for students who wish to progress into advanced theatre classes

Theatre Arts II, III, IV (Advanced Theatre)

Advanced Theatre Theatre Arts II, III, or IV are advanced Theatre classes for experienced Theatre students who wish to further their acting skills and overall theatre knowledge. Students must have passed both semesters of Theatre Arts I to be eligible for Theatre Arts II.

Play Production

East High School’s Performing Arts Department is the proud producer of Iowa High School Musical Theatre Award-Winning Musicals.

What is Play Production? Play Production is a non-performance based theatre class. Students are responsible for producing the technical elements for East High School’s Musical (Fall semester) or Play (Spring Semester). No theatre experience is necessary, though an interest in theatre is preferable. *We do the behind-the-scenes work!

Who should take Play Production? Hard-working, focused students with an interest in: Theatre (plays and musicals) Costuming (fashion and design) Set Design and Construction (designing and building stuff) Students who would like to join the EHS Theatre Family in a non- performing role.
