Continuing Education Systems CE Systems is responsible for the management and administrator of DestinyOne, the system of record at Temple University for non-credit and continuing education Very flexible design and it’s been used as a “swiss army knife” IT system at Temple DestinyOne has been approved by the CISO for confidential level data Roughly 15,000 participants use the site per year Noncredit.temple.edu is the public shopping/application site Destinyone.temple.edu is the internal staff view site https://www.temple.edu/isss/international/DepartmentPortal.htm will hold a list of DestinyOne department portals for the international processes

Overall Process Flow See handout for full process flow details Overview Department identifies scholar or employee Scholar fills out preliminary application in DestinyOne ISSS reviews preliminary application and attaches scholar to your department portal Department starts application appropriate to that scholar (J-1, H-1B, E-3) Department and Scholar fill out full application and press submit after everything has been completed ISSS reviews and generates immigration documents after receiving a complete application

Application to Request Visa Sponsorship Preliminary application is at https://noncredit.temple.edu/portal/applications/applicationProfile.do?met hod=loadApplicationIndex&applicationProfileId=17488821 This preliminary application triages the international applicant. Based on how they answer these questions, next steps are determined. For J-1 sponsorship, it is required that the applicant prove s/he meets the English proficiency requirement OR s/he must sign up for and pass the Temple University Test of English Proficiency (TUTEP)

Application to Request Visa Sponsorship TUTEP Process ON THE DAY OF your Skype interview, please be sure that your microphone and speakers are set properly. Please also ensure you have a strong/good internet connection and are in a quiet place. We will ask that you scan the room with your video camera to ensure that you are ALONE. If you are not alone, we will reschedule your interview. (IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CHEATING: If you are suspected of cheating, the interview will be suspended. You will need to wait two months to retest.) The interviewer will call/Skype you within 5 minutes of your interview start time. The interview will begin with “identification verification” questions (which will not be rated). Please have the following information ready prior to the start of your interview. Photo Identification in English such as a passport, prior US visa stamp, etc Your "X" Number from DestinyOne The interview will proceed with 2 “warm-up” questions (which will not be rated). The interview will continue with rated questions 1 – 12. You should log back into the DestinyOne system in approximately 3 business days to obtain your score.

Application to Request Visa Sponsorship If a scholar receives a score of 4.0 - 6.0, s/he has passed the test and the process can continue Application to Request Visa Sponsorship If the person meets the English proficiency requirement  or has passed the TUTEP, then ISSS will add the person to your department's portal.  NOTE: NOTE: If the person fails the TUTEP a hold will be placed on their account and they will not be able to retest for a minimum of two months, depending on the score. Additional information is available at www.temple.edu/isss/international/EnglishProficiency.htm If the applicant will be sponsored for an H-1B, ISSS will add the person to your department’s portal.

Logging in to your Department Portal https://www.temple.edu/isss/international/DepartmentPortal.htm You will go to your portal that applies to you after you review the list at ISSS Click the drop down box for “staff” Then, press Log On and type your normal accessnet user name and password Note: if you are TUHS and do not have an accessnet, we can still create a login for you for this site. You will be logging in with “contact” type and ISSS will provide a user name and password. Permissions to the Department Portals are managed by ISSS, and if you need staff added, let them know. If staff leave Temple University or change jobs, you must report that to ISSS so that those permissions can be removed to your portal.

Reviewing your list of members After logging in to your department portal, you will see a list of members. These are the persons who have gone through the preliminary app and have been added to your department. You can sponsor applications for any of the members in your list.

Starting a J-1 or H-1 Application To start a J-1 or H-1B Application, click New Application on the left hand side. Click More information on the application applicable to your case. If there is any question about which application is appropriate, ask before you start an application. Each application requires a large amount of data collection to be submitted, and it can slow the process down if we start the wrong application type. Click Apply Now on the application description page. You can also read the application description page for process details Click Start on the person’s name that needs to have the application started for them.

J-1 and H-1B application in-depth The application is built to be a one-stop shop for data collection. It’s a lot of information, but all of it is required to bring the individual into the USA. A large improvement is that user-help text is embedded inside all of the pages. The application is a shared resource between the applicant and the department. The department pages are marked and the applicant pages are marked. Only when ALL required information is present can either party submit the application. DEMO and discussion of J-1 and H-1B applications

Completing the application and reviewing your application status Department starts the J-1 or H-1B application in the agent portal for the scholar (they are sponsoring this scholar and must kick off this step) and fills out what they need to on their end. Scholar logs into noncredit.temple.edu and clicks on “Log In” at the top right hand corner. Scholar then clicks on “Student Log In”.

Completing the application and reviewing your application status Existing Scholars should log in with her/his Accessnet Username in the left-hand column…New scholars who do not have a TU Accessnet Username should log in initially in the right hand column as “a new user”. The Scholar will then always log into D1 using the middle column.

Completing the application and reviewing your application status The Scholar should click on "My Applications“ and click on the desired application.

Completing the application and reviewing your application status " finishes the personal information portion of the application When everything is complete, either party can press submit

Completing the application and reviewing your application status ISSS reviews the J1 or H-1B application and returns the application if documents are missing, illegible or otherwise not acceptable. This will open it up for revisions for both the department and scholar. approves the application and then generates the paperwork to allow the person to come into the country.

Completing the application and reviewing your application status The department and scholar can review the application status at any time. ISSS can input public notes to appear in the application page To review your application status, click Application Status in the department portal You can filter the results on the page by clicking the Filter Applications button.
