Unlimited Access, Pay Per Use Deposit Account

Deposit Account - A new flexible way to access Springer content and only pay for the actual use of content Unlimited access to Springer’s content. Prepaid pay-per-use basis at a more favorable rate than pay per view. Suitable for customers with no current Springer content or in addition to current subscriptions and/or purchased collections. A solution for: a diverse need for information organizations that conduct project-based research, interdisciplinary research and research not adequately served under current subscriptions small to medium sized organizations. Admin tools are available to always have an insight in usage and as a tool to allocate costs.

The Deposit Account Client and Licensing Manager work together to establish rate and content available for all patrons at the institution. Access to which subject collections & product types is predetermined. Minimum of $2,500 deposit.

The Deposit Account Springer for R&D only charges downloads to the deposit after all other access is checked. Subscription, trial, free sample, Open Access, THEN deposit account. User double clicks will be filtered out as well.

The Deposit Account Administrator and Licensing Manager are automatically notified when the account reaches 10 Monthly statistics will be provided for analysis. Leftover deposit is carried over each year. Libraries can add more funds to their account if they choose.

Deposit Functionalities on Springer for R&D

Deposit Account Balance When you are the admin of a deposit account you will see an additional tab: “Deposit Contracts”. Here you can always see an up-to-date status of the balance on your deposit.

Enforced Login and Interruption screen for Deposit In case the deposit customer wants to receive more information on who within their organization downloads the content and which cost center or department they can bill back to they should activate the following organisation settings: Force users to login Interrupt Deposit Contract Downloads

When browsing on Springer for R&D, users recognized as belonging to this organization will see abstract pages as unlocked:

When a user clicks “Download PDF” or “View article,” the deposit interruption setting in the administrator’s dashboard will cause the following to display: A mouse over tooltip answers “what is this?”

The forced login setting in the admin’s dashboard will then cause the following to display for users who are not yet logged in:

Upon successful individual login, the user is shown the content item and the deposit account is charged:

More Deposit Account access carries no institutional archival rights. While individual users may save the pdf files to their local drive, the library may not archive any of the content. Every COUNTER-compliant download is charged against the account, even if the same article or chapter was downloaded by the same user in another user session or any other user in the organization. In the event the Deposit Account is depleted and not renewed, access is turned off.
