A Cost Effective Alternative for Rigid Foams 低成本硬泡环保发泡剂

Overview Ecomate Product Review Useage & Market Applications Discontinuous Panels Ecomate Spray Foam & Emissions Considerations/FAQs Ecomate’s Success & Availability

What is ecomate®? A liquid blowing agent or a foam expansion agent An alternative blowing agent for rigid and flexible applications Cost competitive & economical Been in Commercial use since the past 10 years Meets regulatory standards as an alternative in PU foams

Regulatory US EPA SNAP Approved RoHS and WEEE Compliant GRAS Approved Non-Toxic VOC-Exempt Montreal & Kyoto Protocol Compliant UL, FM & USCG Classified Systems

Properties & Comparison Well-suited blowing agent for PUR & PIR foams Similar to HCFC-141b Liquid at room temperature No special equipment needed when handling Non-ozone depleting and virtually zero GWP

ecomate® Sector Usage

ecomate® China Various Applications Rigid Foams – Commercial Refrigeration- Chest freezers, bottle coolers, ice machines Discontinuous Panels Reefer Container Insulation / Cold Stores Wood Imitation Flexible Foams - Automotive – ISF Steering Wheels / NVH Applications Toys & Recreational

ecomate® Applications Rigid Foams Pour-In-Place Rigid Insulating Foams Commercial Foodservice Equipment/ Commercial Refrigeration Discontinuous Panels Cold Stores Houses – Modular Transport Continuous Panels Flex Faced Metal Faced Block Foams Sheets Pipe Sections Spray Foams Industrial Dwellings

Discontinuous Foam PUR/ PIR Block Foams Discontinuous block foam, picture shows a comparison between HCFC141b (right) and Ecomate (left) Ecomate foams can achieve 5 percent lower density, while maintaining foam strength Lower picture shows cross section of the block, no discoloration apparent

Discontinuous Panels- Italy Foaming trials were conducted in Italy at a large equipment supplier Ecomate systems were used and standard densities were obtained as with a 141b system Results: Compressive Strength 180 kPa Closed Cell Content >95% K-Value 0.023 W/m*K Nominal Density Core Density Left Side Center Right Side Panel “a” 40 kg/m3 34.35 kg/m3 39.70 kg/m3 36.82 kg/m3 Panel “b” 42.5 kg/m3 39.27 kg/m3 39.12 kg/m3 39.57 kg/m3

Discontinuous Panels – Vietnam Discontinuous production of building panels in Vietnam Demold time identical to HCFC141b Insulation properties five percent lower compared to HCFC141b when tested at operating temperatures

Spray Foams – Industrial & Dwellings Worldwide Use: Africa, Asia, Americas, Australia, China, Europe, etc. Produces standard densities [32kg/m3 (2pcf)] Can be processed through standard and/or existing equipment Compatible with currently available raw materials - Polyesters, Mannichs, Sucrose, Amines, Surfactants & Catalysts Mexican systems houses achieved successful trials (UNDP project)

Dimensional Stability Spray Foam − Mexico Density (kg/m3) 1” 2” 3” Average Core 31.58 32.51 34.58 32.89 Overall 34.59 38.13 42.27 38.33 λ-Value (W/m*K) 0.0220 0.0237 0.0229 Dimensional Stability 70°C (15 days) No change -19°C (15 days)

Spray Foam - Egypt Spray Foam trial run with Eco-spray R-3000 Good spray pattern and fine cell structure Foam density 32 - 42g/l {2pcf – 2.6pcf} λ- Value was 0.0226 W/m*K Compressive Strength of 42g/l foam was 235 kPa (parallel to rise) Dimensional stability of 32 and 42 g/l foam, no measurable change @ -25 °C Typical Sprayed thickness 100 – 250mm

Methyl Formate Concentration Spray Emissions – 3rd Party Testing Ecomate concentrations were measured at the spray operators as well as in the immediate vicinity The results indicated that the ecomate concentration was below the recommended limit (250mg/m3) Sample No. Methyl Formate Concentration Actual Flow Rate Period of Sampling Person/Area Sampled 1 3.1 mg/m3 65.8 ml/min 12:00-12:50 Spray Operator 2 1.6 mg/m3 70.3 ml/min 12:03-12:50 Assistant 3 4.8 mg/m3 71.3 ml/min 12:05-12:50 Static Sample on Center Pole

Spray Emissions – 3rd Party Testing Spray Foam Example: ecomate® emissions were recorded while spray job was in progress The emissions were collected where the concentration was expected to be the highest Results: At the gun head: 10 - 12 PPM Over fresh rising foam: 20 - 23 PPM OSHA regulations: 100 PPM

Spray Foam Overview Spray foams are worst-case scenario from a safety and emissions perspective ecomate systems have been proven safe to use by several third party agencies No changes needed Spray foams widely accepted to be worst case scenario from safety and emissions perspective. We have done intensive testing internally and externally. Not once has there proven to be close to bean unsafe scenario. It is safe to assume that if ecomate is safe in spray foam apps, that it will be safe for all other applications.

Considerations Not a Drop-in replacement for all systems Optimization is REQUIRED! Minimal Capital Expense Fractional compared to hydrocarbon technology Cost Efficient Environmentally Benign Meets Montreal Protocol Meets Kyoto Protocol Thermally Efficient Flash Point ecomate – pure form flammable -19⁰C flash point ecomate – polyol blend nonflammable +70⁰C flash point ecomate – mdi blend nonflammable +80⁰C flash point

Considerations ecomate is not a corrosive species ecomate stored and shipped in metal containers Potential issues arise from: Unoptimized system Improper use of equipment Plastic seal compatibility must be checked! PTFE & Kalrez seals recommended

Is ecomate® - Flammable? Pure ecomate is flammable Ecomate blended systems are considered combustible just like 141b-blown systems Why is this important? ecomate® systems are safer to handle than flammables and Hydrocarbon/Pentane PU systems. In addition, systems made with ecomate have much lower shipping, handling & storage costs vs. Hydrocarbon/Pentane systems and other flammables. Facilities equipped to handle 141b systems and/or isocyanates need little to no changes or upgrades. There is no need for large capital changes to facilities. High Insurance premiums and costs associated with flammables and Hydrocarbon/Pentane PU systems are much lower for systems made with ecomate.

Is ecomate® Safe? YES Contributing factors Chemical Nature High Solubility Low Volatility Can be handled similar to HCFC-141b Systems If adhering to current regulations and handling precautions for MDI ….user is covered and should have nothing to worry about. User training & Safe Handling Guide Stresses Basic “Best” Practices Above & Beyond Requirements

Why is ecomate successful? Compatible with all PU raw materials Meets or exceeds energy standards Can process through standard and/or existing equipment No additional capital investment necessary Available worldwide

ecomate® Availability – Worldwide

Conclusions Environmentally safe More compatibilizing than other blowing agents Minimal to no change in equipment Ecomate spray foam (worst-case scenario) has been proven safe by multiple third party testing facilities Not a Drop-in replacement for all systems Optimization is recommended for success Increasing the functionality of polyol blend Changing the surfactant type and amount Not all polyols OR surfactants are created equal
