Success Stories Brazil - Nextel
INTRODUCTION Brazil - Nextel Nextel is a originally iDen operator, which has started the WCDMA operation in 2013 and LTE in 2015 Nextel has about 3 million users (5th operator in Brazil) The operator expects to reach 5 million users until 2016 (60% growth) Nextel has decided to use the Autonomous Measurement system as a relevant Opt tool since the start of WCDMA operation in 2013. They have a mix of Optimization tools, including traditional DT solutions (Nemo), Dingli’s Fleet, Actix One, Huawei Nastar and others. The purpose to use Dingli’s Fleet solution is to reduce costs, increase the testing capacity and reach results closer to user experience than the traditional DT tools. The DT services are provided by 3rd part companies, which have been trained to also use Dingli’s tools.
INTRODUCTION About Nextel Brazil Project First customer to deploy DingLi’s Pilot Fleet Unify system for: monitoring, benchmarking, Replacing traditional DT tools, Hotspot monitoring, Customer Experience measurements, Swap out customers Dingli’s Fleet solution (Scout and RCU) have replaced traditional DT tools, mostly NEMO equipment. Nextel also purchased Pilot Walktour, which is the exclusive tool for Indoor test. Nextel also uses Pioneer Expert and Fleet Analyser platform to post-process and analyse the collected data. Existing customer with significant expansion plan After the initial purchase on Dec-13, customer expanded the solution with 1xNavigator, 5xScouts, 2xRCUs and 1 year of support contract, including a dedicated Dingli’s engineer.
SOLUTION DIMENSION What DingLi’s product(s)/solution is being deployed? 1x Server for Fleet Unify system, complete solution, including post processing (FAP); Solution used for WCDMA 2100Mhz and LTE 1800Mhz, Voice and Data, including MOS; 2x Navigator/Pioneer Expert licenses; 115 Scouts 20 Walktours 2 RCUs In 2016, we are negotiating the 2nd support contract extension, which means 3rd phase of deployment. Solution deployment:
OUTCOME Improvements after deploying DingLi’s solution DT teams reduction. Hence less Opex in general For LTE network, they only use Scouts for DT and WT for smaller tests. Dingli is the official provider for LTE measurement tool. Analysis efficiency from Pilot Fleet Unify’s data processing and analysis method. Analysis accuracy from long terms data monitoring process. Network benchmarking against competitor to improve overall performance/coverage/quality Able to cover more hotspot areas efficiently and cost effectively Understand subscribers’ behaviour better with user perception test and measurement data
LESSONS LEARNT What is the most challenging/time consuming part of the process? Use Scouts for DT is not that easy. We had problems with GPS positioning and HW/SW stability; After fixing the Scout/Fleet DT related issues, the project went smooth. It is very important to have a dedicated Dingli resource inside customer, otherwise the system oerations becames tense We still have difficulties to provide high-level support on BR busy hours.
