Presentation transcript:

the whole network, not just endpoints See and manage the whole network, not just endpoints Set expectations for the presentation. Try to keep the presentation to 5-10 minutes. Auvik is a network infrastructure RMM tool so the presentation focuses on what it takes to deliver effective network managed services. After that, you can run through a quick demo if you feel comfortable doing so. Notes on the slides that follow can be used as a script.

This is what it takes to provide a complete managed service. I don’t like to spend a lot of time on this network operations wheel but I want to recognize what it means to be best in class; what service managers and team need to be doing to deliver an effective managed network services. You’re likely doing a lot of this today for their clients’ PCs and servers, probably using RMM automation, like ConnectWise Automate, and rigorous process. But as the network becomes a more important piece of your business, and as more of your clients’ business-critical functions move to the cloud, you need to ensure network best practices are being followed. That means documentation, backups, automation, diligence, etc. So if your clients call in, you have answer for them and are not caught off guard. You can maintain your relationship with the client.

How much time do you spend...? Diagnosing and fixing client network outages? Documenting client networks and backing up configurations? Sending a network engineer on-site for prospecting or debugging services? How much time are you spending on these activities, and activities like them? You might not know the exact numbers, but it’s worth recognizing that the network is complicated. There are a lot of different hardware vendors, lots of different technologies, and the issues in the network area are issues that typically can’t be addressed by T1 techs. These issues often get escalated to T2 or T3 techs—that gets expensive. For example, a client reaches out to complain about the network being slow. Network slowness can be caused by a lot of different things and it’s going to get escalated to T3 techs. The domain knowledge for T1 techs is often focused on PCs and servers. The takeaway here is that this part of an MSP business often gets undervalued in terms of investment — time, training, cost of services, and so on. It can be a significant expense.

Manually managing network infrastructure isn’t efficient. Not managing it at all is a risk. Today most MSPs are managing network infrastructure by hand, and in a reactive manner. That doesn’t scale well. We’ve seen that some MSPs have processes in place if they’re higher on the maturity scale. They might standardize on equipment and vendors, for example. Some have even gone as far as to build their own automation tools. However, very little has been delivered through their existing RMM solutions to help them move away from that manual tedium. This is where Auvik comes in.

With RMM, you’re managing this Your clients expect you’re managing this Your clients expect that you’re managing the whole network. Traditional RMM tools are only helping you manage a portion of it. The core competency of an RMM like ConnectWise Automate is PCs, servers, and endpoints. The trouble is that there’s a major gap when it comes to managing network infrastructure for clients. Moreover, managing SMB gear (like SonicWall stuff) is hard as there’s very little standardization. Auvik has spent a lot of time ensuring they can support all vendors and everything from carrier-grade gear down to SMB gear.

efficient managed services RMM Complete, efficient managed services INTEGRATION *This is a quick slide to conclude the notes from the previous slide* Auvik augments your existing RMM. Auvik is complementary, not competitive. And integrations makes the experience seamless so that Auvik fits into your operational workflow.

Auvik helps you actively manage network infrastructure in the same way you manage endpoints and servers today As the slide says. Auvik you actively manage network infrastructure in the same way you manage endpoints and servers today. The intent with Auvik is that you can deploy it and within minutes be responsibly managing and documenting your client networks. Your techs no longer need to manually trace cables or dig through CLI output to understand how networks are connected and configured. What’s more, in the past, network monitoring meant digging through vendor documentation to understand appropriate data sources (OIDs) for monitoring key metrics of a device. Auvik automates that process for over 250 different vendors.

What’s the ROI? Jake Bloedow Mike Williams Andrew Kropf 4-day fix done in 15 minutes One alert eliminated a multi-day onsite visit Slashed onboarding time by 75% To be clear, Auvik is not always a profit center for its MSP partners. Many partners develop additional services built from Auvik that are passed on to their clients, although most recognize Auvik as a solution that helps to effectively deliver best in class services, much like Connectwise Manage. Auvik helps you scale effectively by growing you business without growing your team — much of what you currently do for network management can be automated by Auvik. _________________________ Jake Bloedow, Service Manager, Thriveon “We onboarded a client who was complaining about network performance issues. Ticket got generated, T2 guy looked at it. He looked at the core switch, and he could see on the core switch that port 44 was using about 90% of the bandwidth for the switch. Clicked on it and saw that port 44 plugged into the backup device. Logged into the backup device and saw that the backup was going every 15 minutes and choking the network, so he moved it to happen outside of business hours. Really simple, about a 15-minute fix with Auvik. I can honestly say we would have spent about 4 days trying to fix that in the past. You just don’t have that insight without Auvik. ----- Mike Williams, President, Winxnet “Then comes Auvik. In the past, we would chase our tails for weeks on intermittent slowness issues, and after the customer is frustrated get SysArch to set up temporary monitoring. SysArch would catch the issue 50% of the time. With Auvik, managed services was able to ID the slowness issue immediately and provide clear support for the root cause. One or two catches per month on stuff like this will pay for the tool in saved engineering time and improved customer satisfaction. Another step in moving our product from good to great.” ------- Andrew Kropf, Infrastructure & Solutions Manager, Network Doctor “Since using Auvik for our onboarding process, it’s taken a lot of what was a manual process and automated it. It has cut our onboarding time by at least 75%. It’s pulling all of the client configurations into ConnectWise Manage, which gives us much more information than we originally had, and which would have had to be done manually. As well, Auvik has drastically cut down our ticket resolution time. Anybody in our office has the ability to go in and quickly do a network map and understand how any piece of equipment at any client is connected. So that can be from what iPhone is connected to what access point to what PC is connected to what switch. And that drastically helps if we’re trying to help troubleshoot any network issues. Even if we’re trying to troubleshoot a bad cable or a bad link, we’re able to do that with Auvik.”
