The Vermont Agency of Transportation Entry 10e Best Video Channel VTransTV-Youtube

Situation Realizing the growing prominence of video across the web and on social media, VTrans put forth a significant effort to produce several short films focusing on safety, innovation, and the people that keep Vermont moving. “55% of people watch online videos every day.” -Marketingtechblog.com

Goals We sought to achieve the following goals through our Youtube channel (VTransTV) Deliver safety messages, project information, and promotional content in a short, simple, and interesting manner that caters to the current media climate. Share video content from relevant organizations across the country. Communicate directly with our audience by responding to questions and comments.

VTransTV Youtube Page Since July 2014, VTrans has added over 30 original videos to the VTransTV Youtube page. These videos deliver dry, complicated jargon in an interesting and comprehensible format that gets through to our audience, and gets shared across the web.

Content is King To the layperson, transportation can be mundane. We try to breath life into drab and complex topics through our video content. Strategies Feature VTrans Experts Rather than relying on text or voiceover, we prefer to feature subject-matter experts. This adds a human element to our videos, and improves the clarity and effectiveness of the message. Utilize Visual Aids Employing graphics and other visual aids helps us communicate complicated material. Set a Pace We like to keep things moving with snappy editing and upbeat music. This keeps our audience engaged, and helps keep our videos as succinct as possible.

Our Audience Agrees

VTransTV The VTransTV Youtube page is more than a video host; it is a social hub for all things transportation video. We stay up-to-date by subscribing to over 50 relevant channels, and we share worthwhile content from across the country with our audience. The VTrans Spotlight playlist features the most up-to-date videos from our library and from creators across Youtube. This playlist allows us to give special attention to videos related to national initiatives (ie. Distracted Driving Awareness Month), as well as Vermont-specific messages (ie. Don’t Crowd the Plow).

VTransTV The VTrans Youtube page also allows us to communicate directly with our audience, addressing their questions and engaging in conversations.

69% Results Average viewer retention is for videos posted since July 2014, compared to just 25% for videos posted prior to July 2014. *VTransTV has seen a 144% increase in Views and a 92% increase in Minutes Watched over the past 10 months compared to the previous 10 month period.
