The Light of the World Jesus is the light of the world (John 1:1-13) Prophecies A great light in Galilee (Isa. 9:1-2) Fulfilled (Matt. 4:12-17) A light for the nations (Isa. 42:6-7) Fulfilled (Luke 2:25-32; Acts 26:22-23)

The Light of the World The light exposes our works (John 3:16-21) Some hate the light Jesus exposed the Jewish leaders’ sin (Matt. 15:1-12) They got angry (Matt. 15:13; John 7:1) Some welcome the light Jesus exposed tax collector’s sins (Mark 2:13-17; Luke 15:1) They would enter the kingdom (Matt. 21:31-32)

The Light of the World The light shows us the path (John 8:12) Jesus at the Feast of Booths (John 7:2, 10) Extremely tall candles shone in Jerusalem Jesus shines in the world Walking in darkness is dangerous Trip or go the wrong way (John 11:9-10; 12:35) Sin and ignorance (Philip. 2:15; Eph. 6:12; 2nd Cor. 4:4) We must follow Jesus, the only light (John 14:1-6)

The Light of the World We may become sons of light (John 12:35-36, 46) Are you walking in the light, following Christ? How do you react when his light reveals something you need to change? The only way to get to heaven, where he is now, is to follow him in doing God’s will
