You will focus on this exam a lot in MTS but it is better to start early The qualifier is $15 (Diagnostic is addtl. $5) The state exam is ~$140 The different exams Science 7-12 (236)* Life Science 7-12 (238) Chemistry 7-12 (240)** Physical Science 6-12 (237) Physical Science/Mathematics (243) *Recommended – You should really take this one over the others ** No qualifier available

What to do now If you are in CI or MTS, you should start yesterday If you are in Step 2 or KL, read up on things you may have forgotten If you feel ready to take it, talk to your Master Teacher to see your options Study for this test, while the content is easy, it is easy to forget something easy that you did in middle school.

I Passed my content qualifier, now what? Congratulations, you are now ready for the state exam, but there are some things you need to do first. You must contact Dr. Segura and tell her that you have passed your content exam and you would like to take the state exam. She will send in a request to allow you to take it, you cannot take the state exam without doing this!! The steps needed are in the teachHOUSTON website: http://www.uh.edu/nsm/teachhouston/students/certification/
